The Network Marketing Industry is really about building marketing companies within marketing companies. It is a people business! When people are searching out opportunities, normally what sells them is the sizzle and the “hype” – they get all excited. They jump into a program and they die a slow death because they don’t understand what they are really building here.
The reality is that the “normal” person out there does not want to “sell” to make a living and they don’t want to go out and get others to sell to make a living. The last thing people want to do is embarrass themselves, be ridiculed, or face opposition. This is what really scares people about this type of industry.
How about looking at this industry from another perspective. Think about business in general. There are various ways to distribute product to the end-user. This is reality – this is the real world.
First of all, you have the retail market place. This is where you and I go into a brick and mortar type of operation and make a purchase. Retailing is big business. Companies spend hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars, to get their product to the end-user, whether it is through advertising, rents, salaries, and all the overheads involved in the retail market place… all those costs are added to the costs of the products. All those costs are passed on to the end-user.
Then there is the wholesale market place, discount clubs, buyer’s clubs, or any type of operation that allows you to earn a discount on your purchase. JC Penney has introduced a new pricing strategy where they will discount their entire inventory at least 40% daily – ongoing. This is what they are trying to do to drive traffic into their retail operations. They are becoming a discount house on high-end products. They have created a “buyer’s club”. The reason they are doing this is because people’s habits are changing.
Things are changing. The Internet is big business. The home-based business arena is big business. The distribution of products is big business. Online activity is going to do nothing but increase in size. Look at online banking and how many of them are trying to get us to “go green” now, give up the statements, and do everything online. The world is heading in a different direction. The majority of products that people purchase in the future will be off their computers or their television sets or even off smart phones. This is the wave of the future.
These different avenues of distribution of products to the end-user are changing dramatically. Take a look at catalog sales. Every company out there distributes their products via online catalogs. How about L.L. Bean and Lands’ End? These are big operations and million dollar companies based on nothing but catalog sales. Hasn’t everyone shopped via catalog at some point in their lives? How about direct sales? Have you ever had anyone knock on your door trying to sell you a product or a service? These are all ways of getting products out there. We have the retail market place, the wholesale market place, the catalog sales, online sales, direct sales… how about television sales. Have you ever heard of QVC or The Home Shopping Network?
Many people are looking at franchising. Why? Because they can invest a good chunk of money to get a turn-key business. By purchasing a franchise, you get all the products, all the services, and all the equipment to run your own business. In some cases, like McDonald’s, even the location is built for you. The secret to franchising is not making money on the sale of the franchise. The secret to franchising is making money on the monthly volume created by every franchisee paid to the franchisor. If you were to invest in a franchise, you basically have bought a job because as the owner of that franchise, you take on all the responsibilities as far as the success of that franchise. The franchisor has made money on the front end from the purchase and they will make their monthly money on the back end from your sales.
Let’s take a closer look at online sales. Have you ever heard of Amazon? They are a hundred million dollar company based on people clicking a button to make a purchase online. How about ebay? Look what is happening to the brick and mortar book stores. With the introduction of the Kindle, so many people are buying their books online. Online sales is going to dominate the market place – just another way of getting products to the end-user.
The problem with all these methods of distribution is that you only get paid when the sale takes place. Now – let’s look at the Network Marketing industry again where you are allowed to build a marketing company based on group activity verses individual activity, and able to earn month after month after month, on the usage/residual income of every product and every service marketed. This is where you can benefit from the power of working smarter instead of working harder.
Have you ever heard of the term cocooning? Cocooning is the name given to the trend that sees individuals socializing less and retreating into their home more. People’s habits are changing, they want what they want when they want it – now!. People are busy, stressed, and over-whelmed in general, so anything that saves them time – everyone’s most precious commodity- is where they will naturally gravitate. Businesses have recognized and realized that people want the convenience of not having to leave their home to make purchases.
People are looking to save one asset – the greatest asset we all own – that is our TIME. Time freedom to enjoy our families – freedom to do what we want to do.

Gain your reader’s interest by spelling out their problem and letting them know you understand how it feels to have that problem. The reader should say to himself, “Yeah, that’s exactly how I feel” when they read your copy. People are such strong creatures of habit that we rarely change our ways unless we feel great amounts of inconvenience, aggravation, or pain. In fact, companies are no different.
Most businesses trudge along doing the same old thing until things get so bad that they have to make a change. Consider the following way to sell garage door openers. How about telling a little story about what happens when your opener doesn’t work. “There’s nothing worse than getting home in the evening and not having your garage door open. It’s dark outside and after tripping on the porch step you search for your front door key. Finally, you find it only to scratch your new front door up trying to find the keyhole. Exhausted, you get inside and plop down on the couch just when you remember your car is still running in your driveway.…” We have all experienced something similar to this type of scenario and it clearly shows how faulty garage door openers can cause a ton of aggravation.
How Can YOU Help THEM?
When someone visits your website and opts in to your list, it is now the time to tell them how they will personally benefit from your product or service. Don’t make the common mistake of telling all about the features of your product without talking about the benefits. People are not so much interested in you, or even your product or service, but they ARE interested in what your product or service will do for them.
Get a piece of paper and draw a line down the center of the paper. Now write all the features of your product or service on the left. Think about the obvious benefits and not-so-obvious benefits of each feature and write them down on the right side of the paper. Most of the time your product will have hidden benefits that people won’t naturally think of.
For example, a hot tub not only soothes and relaxes your muscles but it also gives you an opportunity to talk to your spouse without interruptions. The hidden benefit is greater communication with your spouse and ultimately a better marriage!
Bullet point each benefit to make it easier to read. Think about every possible benefit your reader may derive from your product or service. In many cases, people will buy a product or service based on only one of the benefits you list.
All Businesses are in Business to Create Sales – Period!
The Network Marketing Industry has a TON of hype and hoopla surrounding it often allowing the fear factor to step in and this is what scares people about this industry. This same fear factor prevents many people from even attempting to take a chance.
However, if you learn how to get past this fear factor and all the hype, you will see an industry that is actually based upon a brilliant business model.
What is The Network Marketing Industry Really About?
Network marketing is nothing more than creating companies that can distribute products like any other company out there – Sears, Costco, etc. – all are in business to create sales volume. The difference is that network marketing companies don’t have the brick and mortar outlets – independent reps ARE the outlets. Everyone says they have the best product(s), the best company, the best compensation plan. So rather than try to convince people that your company is the best – tell them why your chose your particular company – the specific reasons.

By having people invest in the franchise, enough money was madeto accomplish the building of the outlet, to equip it, and to teach owners about how to start duplicating their business. Where the money was made was by collecting a percentageof sales. It was 8%. How would you like to have 8% of a 1/2 million to 1 million dollar business,every year? How would you like to have that 8% based on 1000 outlets? Or how about 10,000 outlets?Or how about 100,000 outlets? In every country of the world? You can go into a McDonald’s ANYWHEREknowing you are going to get the same hamburger, at relatively the same price, cooked the same,and it tastes the same. What did McDonald’s do once the core group was together? Once theseoutlets were established? They started experimenting with different products. Why? Because now they could take the same customer base and recycle them, every time a new product was launched. How about the McRib?Or how about when salads were introduced? 20 years ago McDonald’s had a shrimp salad that only lasted6 weeks. Why? They couldn’t get enough shrimp! They controlled the shrimp market. This is what this businesshas done.
The way you create wealth issurround yourself with same minded people. Bill Gates did not make his billions of dollars doingeverything himself. THIS IS THE SAME THING WE ARE DOING HERE.
