A fifth Indiana Jones movie is on the way and we’ve got the details right now on Clevver Newsfeed! Grab your whip and fedora, a new Indiana Jones movie is coming! Walt Disney Pictures announced today that Harrison Ford will once again return to play swashbuckling archaeologist “Indiana Jones” for a fifth installment set for July 19th, 2019. Steven Spielberg will once again return to direct with franchise vets Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall producing. Regarding the announcement, Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn said quote, “Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019. It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.” Disney obtained the rights to the Indiana Jones franchise when they purchased Lucasfilm back in 2012. Both Spielberg and Ford had previously expressed interest in returning for a fifth outing, but Lucasfilm president Kennedy had stated early on that the focus was on the Star Wars franchise. Considering the four previous films have brought in almost $2 billion at the global box office and positive response to Ford’s return as “Han Solo” in last year’s The Force Awakens, a new Indiana Jones seemed inevitable. No word yet if George Lucas will be involved in the new film, but it doesn’t seem likely. So, who out there is excited for Indiana Jones 5 and where would you like to see the franchise go?
